2021/4/24(Sat)はreap です。

今日は"Japan’s new emissions goals a step forward but not enough to hit 2050 target"と言う記事からです。

reapは、過去何回か書いていると思いますが、頭に残らないです。割と基本的な単語なのに。

2013年比で、2030年までに温室効果ガス排出量を46％削減するという日本の新しい目標は大きな前進だと思います。

でも、まだ目標には足りないようです。米は、2005年比で、2030年までに排出量を50％から52％削減すると約束してます。

梶山弘史産業相は、日本は再生可能エネルギー、水力発電、原子力発電のシェアを2030年までに50％以上に引き上げると発表してます。

今後、このようなクリーンエネルギー技術にビジネスチャンスはあるでしょうね。

Etymology dictionaryによれば、"to cut grain with a hook or sickle," Old English reopan, Mercian form of ripan "to reap," related to Old English ripe "ripe". とあります。

古英語のripeに関連しているようです。ripeは「熟れた」の意味です。

 意味 

Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、 reap somethingで、 to obtain something, especially something good, as a direct result of something that you have doneと説明があります。「～を得る」です。
