さて、今日は中東の話です。
タリバーンがアフガニスタンを掌握した後の治安悪化の中で、日本政府は首都カブールの大使館からすべての人員を避難させ、大使館の活動再開のためイスタンブールに臨時事務所を設立しました。
その同じ日、アシュラフ・ガニー大統領もアフガニスタンから逃亡したようです。
いつの間にか、アフガニスタンってこんな悲惨なことになっていたのですね、びっくりしました。
2001年から2020年11月の間に、日本はアフガニスタンに約68億ドルの復興支援を提供し、また、2021年から2024年までの期間に約7億2000万ドルの追加支援を約束してたようです。
タリバンは、あのアルカイダとはすでに断絶していると説明しているようですが、最近の国連報告では、両組織は緊密な関係を保っているという事です。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、early 15c., ousten, "eject, dispossess," from Anglo-French oster,ouster (early 14c.), Old French oster "remove, take away, take off; evict, dispel; liberate, release" (Modern French ôter), from Latin obstare "stand before, be opposite, stand opposite to, block," in Vulgar Latin, "hinder," from ob "against" (see ob-) + stare "to stand," from PIE root *sta- "to stand, make or be firm." とあります。ラテン語のobstareが由来です。接頭辞のob-が「～に対して」、語幹のstareが「立つ」という事で、「何かに対して、それを通さないように立っている」というニュアンスでしょうか？
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、to force somebody out of a job or position of power, especially in order to take their place と説明があります。「（地位や役職から人）を追放する」です。語源からも想像できる意味です。
