さて、今日はワクチン接種率の記事です。
日本のワクチン接種の立ち上がりはかなり遅かったのですが、現在はカナダとイタリアに次いで、G7では第3位にランクされてます。外国人を含む国内の約1億2700万人の住民の70.6％が2回目が終わっている状況です。
最近は、接種した人数の伸び率が下がっているようです。だいたい80%で頭打ちになると見込まれているようです。
たとえ、90％に達しても、適切な予防措置を講じずにパンデミック前の生活に戻ると、1年間で10万人がCOVID-19で死亡する可能性があるとの事。
ワクチンの有効期限の話もあります。
イスラエルは主に1月までに高齢者への接種を完了してましたが、6月までにCOVID-19による死亡が急増したそうです。これは、ワクチンの有効性が ほぼ5か月で期限切れになることを示していると言われています。
3回目のワクチン接種、予防措置、当面(何年？)はケアが必要そうですね。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、from Old French enticier "to stir up (fire), to excite, incite," which is of uncertain origin, perhaps from Vulgar Latin *intitiare "set on fire," from Latin in- "in" (from PIE root *en "in") + titio (genitive titionis) "firebrand," which is of uncertain origin. Meaning "to allure, attract" is from c. 1300. とあります。古フランス語のenticier、俗ラテン語のintitiareが語源でしょうか。はっきりしてないようです。刺激する、扇動する、が元の意味だったようですが、1300年あたりから、魅了する、と言う意味にも派生したようです。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、to persuade somebody/something to go somewhere or to do something, usually by offering them something と説明があります。「（相手が喜ぶものを提示して）気を引く、誘惑する、うまい話で釣る」です。 entice somebody to do somethingの形で使われます。
