今日は"Japan scrambles fighters as suspected Russian military helicopter enters Hokkaido airspace"と言う記事からです。
rhetoricって、苦手な単語の一つです。レベル7、英検準1級以上、TOEIC® L&Rスコア730点以上の単語です。
さて、ウクライナ侵攻のドサクサに紛れてロシアのヘリが日本の領空を飛んだようです。根室半島沖の日本の領空に侵入したとの事。
ウクライナ侵攻の最中でもヨーロッパとアジアの両方で同時に活動する能力を強調したかったのでしょうか？
ロシアの侵攻は続いてますが、経済はめちゃくちゃになりつつあり、国内外での反プーチン運動も高まり、プーチン政権はじきに終わるのではと思います。
その後の世界秩序に向けてG7では、もう話が進んでいるのでしょうか。
下手すると、ロシア内の過激派・テロリストが更なる政情不安を誘発するのではと気になります。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、from Old French retorike, rethorique (Modern French rhétorique) and directly from Latin rhetorice, from Greek rhētorikētekhnē "art of an orator," from rhētōr (genitive rhētoros) "speaker, master speaker, orator; artist of discourse; teacher of rhetoric," especially , "orator in public." とあります。ラテン語のrhetorice、ギリシャ語のrhētōrあたりが語源みたいです。もとは「公の場所で演説する人」と言う意味です。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、speech or writing that is intended to influence people, but that is not completely honest or sincere、the art of using language in speech or writing in a special way that influences or entertains people と説明があります。前者は「美辞麗句、巧言」「説得力、弁舌」です。微妙ですね。。。基本は「わかりやすい話し方、文章の書き方」という感じでしょうか？
