今日は"G20 summit exposes Russia's increased isolation on world stage"と言う記事からです。

repercussionは復習です。レベル16の単語です。

さて、ロシアとウクライナの戦争が長引くにつれ、ロシアは世界の舞台でますます孤立しつつあります。G20諸国のほとんどのメンバーは水曜日に戦争を「最も強い言葉で」非難しました。

ロシアは、どう見ても、この戦争で負けることは明らかだし、”勝っても”負けるでしょう。

最近、ポーランド国内にミサイルが着弾し、2名の方が亡くなっていますが、この責任がロシアにあると判断された場合、NATO は第 5 条に基づき集団的自衛を発動し、戦争が大幅に拡大する可能性があります。まぁ、ロシアはこれで完敗となりますが。

一刻も早く、ウクライナに平和が来てほしいものです。

古フランス語のrépercussion、ラテン語のrepercusionem（repercutereの過去分詞でしょうか？）が由来のようです。re-「後ろへ」＋percutere「撃つ」と分けられるようです。

 補足 

point toは、本当によく見かけます。to mention something that you think is important and/or the reason why a particular situation exists、to suggest that something is true or likely の意味です。
