さて、電気自動車で使われるバッテリーですが、かねてから製品のライフサイクルで発生する二酸化炭素の量は相当なものと聞いてましたが、やはりそうだったようです。
欧州は、 2024 年からバッテリーの製造から廃棄までの二酸化炭素排出量を開示するよう企業に要求する提案を発表し、2027 年からは二酸化炭素排出量の上限を設定し、2030 年からは一定量のリサイクル材料の使用を要求するそうです。
たとえコストが上昇したとしても、バッテリーメーカーは環境、社会、ガバナンスの観点から設備にもっと投資することが重要になってきたようです。
結局、トータルで考えると、普通のハイブリッド車の方が環境に優しいということはないでしょうか？

Panasonic Energy plans to reduce the carbon footprint of its battery manufacturing process by 50% by March 2031 from 2022 levels. Using less cobalt and nickel will be key because extracting the metals from ore accounts for about 40% of the company’s carbon footprint.
