credenceは多分はじめてです。レベル13の単語です。
さて、賃金上昇が叫ばれる中、日本の実質賃金は 8 年間で最大の下落を見せており、インフレに見合った賃金上昇が達成されるにはまだ長い道のりのようです。
11月の日本の労働者の実質現金収入は、前年比で3.8％減少し、8か月連続で減少しました。
政府は、企業に賃金を上げろ！とお願いしているだけのように見えますが、企業がそうせざるを得なくなるような、何か具体的な手を打っているのでしょうか？
お願いするだけだったら誰でもできますからね。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、mid-14c., from Medieval Latin credentia "belief," from Latin credentum (nominative credens), past participle of credere "believe, trust"です。
中世ラテン語のcredentia、ラテン語の動詞credereの過去分詞であるcredentumが由来です。credereは、「信じる、信頼する」の意味です。

補足
lend credence toは、よく使われるみたいです。「～に信用を与える、～の信用度［信ぴょう性］を高める」の意味です。
