今日は"Language an obstacle in vaccinating foreign residents"と言う記事からです。

入国管理局の最新の統計によれば、昨年６月現在、約３００万人の外国人居住者が日本に住んでいるそうです。

その方たちも、当然予防接種を受け取る資格があります。

しかし、言葉の壁により説明不足であったり、英語表記がなかったり、十分な準備ができていないという状況です。

課題がまだまだ多いですが、なんとか解決して、日本に来てよかったと思ってほしいですね。

Etymology dictionaryによれば、1530s, "hard to accomplish, difficult to do, attended with much labor," from Latin arduus "high, steep," also figuratively, "difficult, hard to reach,"という事で、ラテン語のarduusが語源のようです。

高いことを意味する*eredhに遡るようです。

意味

Oxford learner's dictionariesによれば、involving a lot of effort and energy, especially over a period of timeとあります。「(仕事などが)多大な努力を要する、達成が困難な、根気のいる」の意味です。
