中国初の空母打撃軍が、沖縄近郊の宮古海峡を航行していたそうです。

中共軍には、千島列島と琉球諸島、台湾、フィリピン、インドネシアに広がる第一列島線を突破する能力があるのでしょうか。

来週の菅首相とバイデン米大統領との会談でこのあたりの問題が最重要課題になると予想されます。

日本も、そろそろ憲法改正をまじめに視野に入れないと、大変なことになりませんか？平和ボケしすぎてるような気がしてきました。

Etymology dictionaryによれば、"touching, meeting or joining at a surface or border," 1610s, from Latin contiguus "near, touching, bordering upon," from root of contingere "to touch upon" (see contact (n.)). Earlier form, now obsolete, was contiguate (mid-15c.); contigue (1540s). とあります。

ラテン語のcontingereが語源のようです。「接触している」ようなニュアンスがあります。

意味

Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、 touching or next to something と言う説明があります。つまり「隣接する」、「近接する」です。

補足
spotは動詞でよく見かけます。to see or notice a person or thing, especially suddenly or when it is not easy to do soの意味です。日本語訳より、英語の説明がしっくりきます。
