さて、今日は週休3日制に関する記事からです。
日立製作所やユニクロ、みずほグループ、日本電気そしてパナソニックでも採用予定のようです。
サラリーがその分減るとしたら、賛成する人は少ないのではと思います。それを補填するために、副業することになるでしょうからかえって休めなくなりそうです。
実際、求人情報提供会社マイナビの調査によると、20代から50代の労働者の78.5％が、賃金が下がったら3日間休みたくないと答えたそうです。
今勤務している会社にいながら、起業したい人、副業に精を出したい人には、この上なく良い話ですが。。。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、from Old French embracier (12c., Modern French embrasser) "clasp in the arms, enclose; covet, handle, cope with," from assimilated form of en- "in" (see en- (1)) + brace, braz "the arms," from Latin bracchium (neuter plural brachia) "an arm, a forearm," from Greek brakhion "an arm" (see brachio-). とあります。古フランス語のembracier（フランス語のembrasser）、ラテン語のbracchiumあたりから来てるようです。embracierのemはen-で「中に」、bracierはbrace「腕」なので、「腕の中に入れる」のニュアンスですね。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、to put your arms around somebody as a sign of love or friendship、to accept an idea, a proposal, a set of beliefs, etc., especially when it is done with enthusiasm と説明があります。前者は「～を抱きしめる」、後者は「～を受け入れる」です。「腕の中に入れる」の意味そのものです。
