さて、インフレ率が速いペースで上昇し、名目賃金の伸びを上回ったため、3月の日本の実質収入は縮小したと政府は発表しました。
確かに、最近買い物をするといろんな物が値上がりしてます。「えっ？」と思う事もよくあると思います。
我が家は、電気自動車なので気になりませんが、ガソリンの高騰はすごいですね。早いうちに電気自動車にして良かったとしみじみ思います。
でも、それでも電気代（東電ではありません）やガス代はやはり上がってます。
一方で、容赦なく来る固定資産税、自動車税、少しは遠慮しろよと腹立たしくさえ思います。。。

語源
前置詞のほうが先で、Etymology Dictionaryによれば、from a Scandinavian source, probably Old Norse þvert "across," originally neuter of thverr (adj.) "transverse, across," cognate with Old English þweorh "transverse, perverse, angry, cross," from Proto-Germanic *thwerh- "twisted, oblique" , altered from *therkh-, from PIE root *terkw- "to twist." とあります。北欧起源でしょうか？古英語のþweorh、古ノルド語のþvert、ゲルマン祖語の*thwerh-、そして 印欧祖語の*terkw-にまで遡るようです。横切る、ツイストする、、、意味に一貫性がなさそうな気がします。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、to prevent somebody from doing what they want to do と説明があります。「～を阻止する、～を挫折させる、～をくじく」です。語源に繋がらないですね。忘れるパターンです。
