seize「捕まえる」発音は「スィーズ」と似てますが、勿論全然違います。
さて、ちょい前ですが、中共の外務省が、2020年春に、米軍が武漢にCOVID-19を持ち込んだことを示唆しましたが、無理がありますね。
これは明らかに、誰が見ても、パンデミックからウィグル人人権問題に至るまでの問題に対する批判をそらそうとする中共の試みの一部であると思います。
（しかし、こういった中共に支配されている中国や、同じくロシアが常任理事国だなんて、どう考えてもおかしいですよね？）
一体、コロナはどこから来たのか？
科学者の間での一般的な見解としては、おそらく野生動物の取引を通じて中国で出現した可能性が高いというものですが、武漢の研究室から漏れたという考えが最近注目を集めてるようです。
この研究所設立って、フランスも関わっていたと思うのですが、フランスはダンマリですかね？

The military sense is attested from c. 1300; the notion is of an army "sitting down" before a fortress. とあります。ラテン語のsedere[「座る」ご由来のようです。軍事的な意味の「包囲する」にその後派生したようです。敵の前に居座る→方位する、です。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、a military operation in which an army tries to capture a town by surrounding it and stopping the supply of food, etc. to the people inside、a situation in which the police surround a building where people are living or hiding, in order to make them come out と説明があります。どっちも「包囲」ですね。
