今日の2024/5/4(Sat)は、retention, lesion, remnant, trajectory, archipelago, remorseの6つです。

引き続き、英検1級でる順パス単（5訂版）のSection18の2巡目です。忘れかけている、または忘れてしまった単語を中心に復習します。

今日の単語については、以下のような関連付けで頭に入れてます。

今日はみどりの日らしいです。昨日で部屋も綺麗に片付き、この春休みでやりたかったことの殆どが終わりました。

今日は、英語の勉強と電験1種で気になる問題があったのでそれをやって、混んでいなければ近くのプールで自主トレをしたいと思います。

解説：ラテン語のlaedere「to strike, knock(たたく、ぶつかる)」が由来で、collide「衝突する」も同じ語源です。という事で、肉体にダメージを与えるという事で傷とか病変という事でしょう。

解説：ラテン語のmaneo/manere「to remain(とどまる)」が由来で、remain「残る、留まる」やpermanent「永久の」も同じ語源を持ちます。

意味：深い後悔、自責の念
解説：re-はagain、後ろはラテン語のmordere「to bite(かむ)」が由来で、smart「賢い、身体の一部が〕うずく、ズキズキ［ヒリヒリ］痛む」も同じ語源です、このsmartですが、動詞では「痛む」の意味ですが、そこから｢刺すような」と連想して｢鋭い｣｢賢い｣｢きびきびした｣｢身なりのきちんとした」などの意の形容詞の意味が出て来たとの事です。という事で、歯で何度も噛むような痛み＝後悔でしょう。
