今日は"Biding his time, Biden plays Deng’s card against Xi"と言う2/8のOpinionからです。

本日はなんと休刊日でした。2/8の記事を後で読もうと思って取っておいたので、そこら単語を拾いました。

さて、2/5にブリンケン米国務長官が中国の楊潔チ・外交トップと電話会談しました。

中国側発表では、「一つの中国」原則を遵守するとブリンケン氏が言ったとのことです。え～～ですよね。

米側発表にはない内容だそうで、もし言ってないのなら、なぜブリンケン氏から反論がないのでしょうか？

中国政策ではトランプ大統領と同じかと思いましたが、本当はどうなのでしょう？

 語源 
Etymology dictionaryによれば、1620s, "declare, express," from Latin enunciatus, properly enuntiatus, past participle of enuntiare "speak out, say, express, assert; divulge, disclose, reveal, betray," from assimilated form of ex "out" + nuntiare "to announce," という事で、ラテン語のenuntiareが語源です。外に向かって報ずる、と言う事だと思います。

 意味 

Oxford learner's dictionariesによれば、 to say or pronounce words clearlyや、to express an idea clearly and exactlyとあります。「（言葉）を明瞭に発音する」、
「（考えなど）を明確に述べる」です。

 訳 
ジョー・バイデンの米大統領就任は北京で歓迎されたが、中国当局はワシントンが新しい中国の政策を発表していないことにますます焦りを感じている。

 補足 
impatientは、annoyed by somebody/something, especially because you have to wait for a long timeのことで、イライラするとか、我慢できないとかの意味です。その後に続くthat節は原因を表す副詞節と捉えれば良いでしょうか。
