引き続き、英検1級でる順パス単（5訂版）のSection13の2巡目です。忘れかけている、または忘れてしまった単語を中心に復習します。

今日の単語ですが、以下のような関連付けで頭に入れてます。

意味：(より合わせた)糸,ひも,（髪の毛の)房
解説：元々、古英語で「縒り合わせた繊維」の意味だったようです。電気で言うstrand wire「より線」の事ですね。

例文：When she found strands of hair in the bath, she felt quite disgusted.  ※disgust「人の〕気分を悪くさせる、〔人に〕嫌悪感を起こさせる」

解説：反対語はanalysisです。

意味：写し、模写、複写、成績証明書、(音声を）文字おこししたもの
解説：transは「向こう側へ」、scriptはラテン語のscribere「to write(書く)」が由来です。subscribe「購読する」や、script「台本」が代表例です。なので、「あるものを別のところにも書くこと」と解釈できます。

例文：Applicants were asked to produce an official transcript of their high school grades.

品詞：名詞、自動詞、他動詞
意味：(血などの)塊、凝結、血栓
解説：cluster「クラスター」、clay「粘土」、clout「当て布」と同じ語源のようです。粘土のようなべたつくものを原義とする印欧祖語にまで遡るようです。

例文：Blood clots in the brain can be dangerous, as they are a cause of strokes.

意味：敵
解説：古英語のgefea、gefa「敵、敵、血の争いにおける敵対者」が由来って言われても、意味を思い出すきっかけになりませんね。反対語はfriendでしょうか。
