今日は"'Telework fatigue' sees more Japanese workers going back to the office"と言う記事からです。
faithは基本的な単語ですが、すっかり忘れてました。
さて、在宅勤務ですが、「テレワーク疲れ」の傾向が現れているのでしょうか、完全に在宅やリモートで働く日本人の割合は減少しているようです。
一方で、オンライン調査によると、在宅勤務をしている人の中で、最近の1週間で、3〜4日間オフィスに行って仕事をした人の割合は、4月の28.4％から34.4％に上昇したそうです。
私は、在宅勤務は集中できるから良いと思います。勿論、ものを見るときなどは出社してますが、ほとんどの場合、リモートで事足ります。

Etymology Dictionaryによれば、mid-13c., faith, feith, fei, fai "faithfulness to a trust or promise; loyalty to a person; honesty, truthfulness," from Anglo-French and Old French feid, foi "faith, belief, trust, confidence; pledge" (11c.), from Latin fides "trust, faith, confidence, reliance, credence, belief," from root of fidere "to trust,"from PIE root *bheidh- "to trust, confide, persuade." とあります。
ラテン語の fidesが語源みたいです。これは、ラテン語の動詞であるfidere「信用する」から来てますね。
意味
Oxford Learner's Dictionariesによれば、trust in somebody’s ability or knowledge; trust that somebody/something will do what has been promised、strong religious belief と説明があります。「信用、信頼」の事です。faith in somebody/somethingの形で使われるようです。もっと言うと、have faith in～ というイディオムもあります。「～に対して信念（信仰）を持っている」という感じです。

政府をまったく信用していないと答えた回答者は32.6％を占めた。そのような回答者と政府への信頼がほとんどない回答者の合計割合は76.9％に達し、過去最高を記録しました。
補足
account forは、よく見るし、プレゼンでも使いますよね。大学受験でもよく出ます。ちなみにaccountは自動詞で、「責任をとる」、「釈明をする」の意味があります。
