今日は"Pentagon draws lessons from Ukraine war as it eyes possible conflict with China"と言う記事からです。
imminentは復習です。レベル9、英検1級以上、TOEIC® L&Rスコア950点以上の単語です。
さて、アメリカの国防総省は、ロシアとウクライナの戦争から、今後中国軍にどのように対抗するかを学んでいるようです。
確かに、アメリカだけでなく欧州NATO加盟国も、この戦争を通して武器の開発を含めて、多くの知識を得ているでしょう。
一方で戦争に関与していない中国(裏の事は知りませんが)ですが、これまで戦争で勝ったこともありませんし、果たして日本やオーストラリアを含む先進国と戦って勝利することが出来るのでしょうか。
怖いのは、中国共産党が、軍事力を整えれば米国に勝てると思っている？事でしょうか。かつての日本ですね。こうなると、戦争が始まると思います。

「上に突き出している」という元の意味が、なぜ「差し迫った」になったのかはよくわからないです。
